What Is Clindamycin?
Clindamycin is an antibiotic prescription medication used to treat serious infections caused by bacteria. It is available as several brand name drugs including Cleocin, Cleocin T, Evoclin, and Clindesse.
What Is Clindamycin Phosphate?
Clindamycin phosphate is more stable than clindamycin and has a broader use in topical forms, pills, and oral solutions.
How Does Clindamycin Work?
Clindamycin works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. In turn, this prevents bacteria from growing and spreading infection throughout the body. After it is taken, clindamycin binds to the 50s ribosomal subunit of bacteria. It then disrupts bacterial protein synthesis by inhibiting chemical reaction within the bacteria.

Clindamycin Dosage, Uses Side Effects & Interactions Summary
Clindamycin is an antibiotic prescription medication used to treat serious infections caused by bacteria. It is available as several brand name drugs including Cleocin, Cleocin T, Evoclin, and Clindesse.
Clindamycin works by attaching the 50s ribosomal subunit of bacteria, thus disrupting bacterial protein synthesis. In doing so, clindamycin helps prevent the spread of bacterial infections.
