Uses Of Carbamazepine

Carbamazepine Interactions

Do not take cerbamazepine in conjunction with the following medications. Doing so may result in serious, unwanted side effects. 

- Antifungal drugs such as voriconazole

- MAO Inhibitors such as linezolid

- Metaxalone 

- Macrolide antibiotics such as erythromycin 

Carbamazepine Dosage

Dosage For Bipolar Disorder

Adult: 200mg per day. Dosage may be adjusted as needed but should not exceed 1600mg per day. 

Carbamazepine Dosage For Epilepsy 

Adult: 200mg twice per day. Dosage may be adjusted as needed but should not exceed 800mg per day. 

Dosage For Trigeminal Neuralgia

Adult: 200mg once a day. Dosage may be adjusted as needed but should not exceed 1000mg per day. 

Warnings Of Carbamazepine

Carbamazepine may cause life-threatening allergic reactions called Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) or toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). These allergic reactions may cause severe damage to the skin and internal organs.
